Limestone principal Keith Brown has been selected as the new district superintendent beginning with the 2023-2024 school year. Brown joined the district as principal in the fall of ‘22. He will replace Dr. Allan Gresham who will retire at the end of the school year.
Brown, who has enjoyed working with Limestone students, parents, and the board of education, is looking forward to bringing a new perspective to the district to mix with the ideas of those who have been with the district for a while. He plans to use his “servant” leadership style to empower others.
During this time at Limestone, Brown has enjoyed getting to know the faculty and staff and the building as a whole. “Most people want to be valued. Most people want to be listened to. There are so many great ideas here,” said Brown who wants to value the expertise of those in the building. He believes this philosophy and some small changes in how things are done in the building have contributed positively to the culture under his time as principal.
Brown graduated from Eureka College with a bachelor's degree in history and secondary education. He earned his master's at Olivet Nazarene University in school improvement leadership. Brown also holds an Education Specialist degree from Western Illinois University where he is also in the process of writing his dissertation on the implementation of progressive education at high school to earn his doctorate. Before coming to Limestone, he was employed for 17 years at Illini Bluffs where he worked as a junior high and high school teacher before becoming the district principal.
